Job Title: 

Project Manager – Graduate Trainee Scheme 

 

Reporting to:  

Senior Project Manager/Project Manager 

Our two-year Graduate Programme will give you training plus project, business and management experience that will build on your strengths and talents and develop the skills you will need to make a fantastic start to your career. 

You will learn how our business operates through hands-on experience before managing a variety of specific projects across our services and sectors, based on your skills and capabilities, in a safe and challenging learning environment. 

Key elements of our programme that you can look forward to 

Year 1 

Structured training programme covering the services that we offer and our project management processes, Association for Project Management training to achieve APM Project Fundamentals Qualification, shadowing other project managers, site visits, and managing own projects. 

Year 2  

More emphasis on project management including leading projects, business administration and management development, Association for Project Management training to achieve APM Project Management Qualification, further qualifications through CICES and/or ILM.

  • Contracts are for 40 hours per week

Role Purpose: 

The Project Manager is accountable for coordination of programmes of work ensuring that the overall programme is delivered to time, quality and budget as well as ensuring that survey deliverables are accurate, timely and delivered to budget.   

The Project Manager is responsible for guiding and assisting Contracts Administrators when required. The Project Manager is expected to coordinate site activities based on client priorities and deadlines whilst maintaining a positive commercial position by identifying and resolving any contract issues. 

Key Accountabilities: 

As a Project Manager you will undertake part or parts of the following tasks (this list is not exhaustive): 

  • Accountable for weekly and monthly programme reporting; 

  • Accountable for daily and weekly planning of site operations; 

  • Accountable for ensuring client requirements are met on time, at the correct quality and at the right cost on each contract; 

  • Accountable for quality control and deliverable production processes on assigned contracts; 

  • Accountable for client relationship management; 

  • Accountable for updating project management and cost data in corporate systems; 

  • Engaging with clients from Senior representative to PM through to supervisors/gangs building our returned surveying outputs; 

  • Responsible for the creation and instruction of weekly work plan; 

  • Responsible for the provision of weekly performance reports including cost, production rates and work in progress status; 

  • Responsible for managing the supply chain arrangements on contracts both office and site; 

  • Supervising Contract Administrators to ensure production is at the right rate and all works are delivered and commercially closed; resolving issues from both from site and office; 

  • Lead or support process improvements to drive continual improvement and innovation; 

  • Lead ‘lessons learned’ sessions and contribute to the improvement of processes; 

  • Provide technical training and support to contract administrators on induction and for personal development of the team; 

  • Provide project brief to survey teams prior to each survey to ensure correct and complete survey results are obtained in line with client specifications. 

 

Key Competencies: 

  • Expected to achieve or already achieved a Bachelor or Masters degree in an Engineering, Environmental or Science field. Other relevant industry degrees will also be considered. 

  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude 

  • Be equally effective working as part of a team as working independently 

  • Eligible to work and live permanently in the UK 

  • A full driver’s licence and 

  • Be flexible in your approach to work location

Starting Salary: £27,000.00 per annum 

 

 

 

Job Title: Utility Surveyor
 

Reporting to: Project Manager, line Manager, a designated Project Co-Ordinator or a Senior Utility Surveyor for delivering the required contract outcomes within the timescales and budget allocations.  
 

Role Purpose:

To carry out the survey, as per the Task Method Statement, to the requirements set out in the Commercial Handover Document and as given in the pre-site briefing. This would include the documentation, identification and recording of Utility apparatus by means of locating, marking and accurately data capturing all assets which have been located during the project.

Preferable Skills:

  • CSCS card is essential
  • A minimum of GCSE grade A-E in Mathematics and English.
  • Applicants must hold a valid driving licence for use in the UK as the role will involve travel to site locations. 
  • NRSWA certified.
  • Minimum 2 years Utility Detection experience.
  • Experience of using GPR as a method of detection
  • Competent in use of  Microsoft Office software suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proactive nature and a desire to learn and develop self
  • A minimum of QCF Level 3 Utility Surveying Qualification

Preferred but not essential

  • Knowledge of PAS 128 
  • GNVQ or Higher Technical qualification
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent
  • Related or similar experience

Operating Environment:

The role is predominately a field based role working from our Brentwood office with days spent at the office as required.  Night shifts and weekend shifts may be required.  Travelling and working away from home may also be required.


Salary: up to £37,500 per annum, depending on experience
 

Please be aware, due to the high security levels we operate at with a number of our clients, the successful candidate will be subject to DBS checks and Drug and Alcohol Testing during their probation period.
