Responsible Business
Traditionally Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was about charitable donations, supporting activities in the local community and being aware of the environmental impact that a business may have. At Catsurveys we understand that this is a much far reaching responsibility which impacts not only how we go about our business operations, but understanding how it affects and how we can influence our interested stakeholders from our Team, customers, supply chain and the interaction with of the communities in which we work in.
We also understand that being a responsible business is much more aligned with our ambition, integrated into strategy, tackling key challenges, whilst managing risks and identifying opportunities which deliver benefits to the bottom line.
The Shareholders and Board at Catsurveys realise and fully embrace the necessity to make business decisions whilst understanding its Corporate Social Responsibility across all spectrum's of its operations which will in turn create value;
- Through attracting, motivating and retaining a talented and diverse team.
- By providing a platform to innovate our service delivery.
- Retain and enhance a strong corporate image and enviable reputation whilst maintaining a clear Vision and upholding our core Values of Safety First, Customer Focus with Continual Improvement, Integrity and Opportunity.
The Team at Catsurveys are among the most experienced and knowledgeable professionals in our industry. All share a common drive to succeed, an enthusiasm for our work and a passion for providing exceptional service to our clients.
Catsurveys believes in a no regrets decision to responsible employment and retention that drives value in the long-term. Its commercial success depends on the ability to attract, develop and retain highly engaged employees. This means bringing in new talent, from different and diverse backgrounds, as well as maintaining and investing in the development of the existing Teams knowledge, skills and abilities.
We are party of the CICES Approved Development Scheme, which gives our Team the opportunity to develop their skills and encourages them to take the next big step in their careers.
The Board committed in 2014 to become part of the Living Wage Foundation, whereby every employee will be provided with a salary that exceeds the National Minimum Wage. This commitment to ensuring that our employees feel the benefit of our success and the appreciation of being part of our Team lead to the further step in 2016, by making Catsurveys a London Living Wage Employer with an enhanced base hourly rate, although we are not within the catchment area under the foundations' guidance.

Without doubt we are proud to state that Safety is our number one priority. This forms one of our core values and we will not compromise our position. It’s an integral part of every decision that we make at Catsurveys and by doing so ensures that a positive health and safety culture is maintained and safety behaviours chosen.
Through well managed consultation with the team we ensure that whilst undertaking our services for our clients, it is done so in a safety conscious mind set, which also maintains the wellbeing of not only our Team but all interested stakeholders that may be affected.
We ensure that that training, instruction and supervision of all our teams is of the highest calibre which allows us to complete our operations to the best quality and in the safest manner practicable.
We never compromise in the technological advances in the equipment we provide our teams and believe they are the best equipped within our industry.
The relationships we have with our clients and supply chain are incredibly valuable to us. We adopt an open and collaborative approach which provides us with a better perspective on how we can deliver cost-effective and beneficial outcomes for all interested stakeholders on every project.
Through new and repeat business, our clients have given us the opportunity to demonstrate our expertise, deliver better solutions to their challenges and, in turn, develop our business. This passion and drive for a collaborative working model with our clients continues, with our desire to be challenged and analysis of lessons learnt so that we understand how to improve our service capabilities and provide continued customer satisfaction.
It is extremely important to Catsurveys to ensure that our customers feedback both positive and negative is analysed, and where necessary appropriate action is taken to ensure that any customer concerns are resolved satisfactorily. All feedback is recorded and discussed by the Board and Senior Management Team on a monthly basis.
We ensure that our own supply chain is carefully considered through our approval process and will only except partners that have the same ethos as ourselves, and those that are prepared to take a path of continual improvement through lessons learnt and a close collaborative partnership.
It’s imperative that we understand and realise our environmental aspects and impacts, as a service provider our own impacts on the environment are small but there are measures that we can put in place to ensure that environmental issues are still addressed.
We again look further afield to our interested stakeholders to ascertain how we can improve on those of our clients, by providing a level of service which allows them to plan and design their projects based on our high-quality asset identification and survey deliverables thus ensuring that any impact on the environment during construction phases are carefully considered.
As part of our ISO 14001 accreditation, we had a clear environmental objective to reduce our kWh usage within the office by 5% with a target completion date of January 2019 this was achieved with an overall reduction of 13%.
With the focus environmentally, looking at the usage of plastic and the recycling of such we have a clear objective in 2019-2020 to reduce our dependence on plastic packaging.
We understand the responsible business approach to engaging with our local community and offering support in areas in which we can make a difference. Through our membership of the Business in The Community (BiTC) network this has broadened our perspective on the positive impacts that we can have not only in and around our Head Office location but how we can get involved with our clients drive for community investment in their projects.
At Catsurveys we run a 'Give and Gain Day' program which gives our staff the opportunity to take one day out of the year to volunteer for a local charity and still receive a full days wage. To make positive changes to the community we have secured ongoing partnerships with local community volunteering groups which provides us and our Team with an active platform to engage at a local level.
- Brentwood Sensory Garden - provides opportunities for people with disabilities and sensory impairments.
- Hopefield Animal Sanctuary – Rehabilitation treatment centre for abandoned animals.
- Weald Country Park – Volunteer conservation and park maintenance projects.
The program has been designed with all ages and abilities in mind and offers a range of activities suitable for these needs. The Give and Gain Day program is more than a volunteering day. The drive behind this initiative is to align Catsurveys with our community, building trust and relationships whilst positively improving it.
We also have a close association with local colleges as part of their STEM programs in aiding where practicable in initiatives to help the future generations growth into full time placement. We also promote our Team to engage in a charitable venture of their own choosing by supporting a day’s paid charity work per annum so that they are provided with our support to offer their time.
Our Integrated Management System (IMS) has been created to clearly provide a framework so that we can ensure a consistent process approach to our Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety performance.
