Catsurveys are delighted to announce that we have been successful in reaching the finals of the SME National Business Awards in the Employer of the Year category for the second year in a row! This is a fantastic achievement and reaching the finals of the National Awards shows our commitment to be the ‘Employer of Choice’ within our industry.
What are the SME National Business Awards?
Entering its third year, the SME National Business Awards are made up of 25 categories including ‘Best New Business’, ‘Business Woman of the Year’ and ‘Website of the Year’. All entries are judged by a national panel of judges.
Why did we enter the Employer of the Year award?
The criterion to win the award is simple – tell the judges how we as an employer look after our people. Aside from providing our employees a safe place to work, our most important value is ‘our people are our greatest strength’, this is a value that is truly embedded into our culture.
In the past year to support our employee wellbeing we have introduced a number of initiatives, including signing the ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ manifesto to publicly commit to regarding mental health problems as importantly as physical ailments.
We have mental health champions and trained mental health first-aiders within the organisation to truly be able to offer our employees the best level of support that we can.
Another of the initiatives is the Personal Health Care Day (PHCD). A PHCD is a paid day off our employees are allowed (and in fact encouraged) to take off to undergo preventative health screenings (such as smear tests, prostate exams, full body screens etc).
A dedicated and enthusiastic workforce
The benefits of us being a great employer are not a new phenomenon to Catsurveys. Year on year we add to our benefits package and improve what we can offer our staff. As a result we have a staff turnover rate of significantly lower than industry average.
As a result of our all-encompassing benefits package we have a dedicated and enthusiastic workforce, who not only share our values, but who are committed to helping us achieve our vision; that is truly priceless as an organisation.
Back in 2014, Catsurveys voluntarily joined the London Living Wage foundation, even though we were outside of the suggested area. We believe that offering competitive salaries of at least the London Living Wage amount gives us credibility as an employer and shows that we are responsible in the way that we remunerate our people.
Catsurveys aims to be the ‘Employer of Choice’ within our sector, and we believe that by focussing on employee physical, mental and financial wellbeing, this has helped us retain the key talent we already have within our organisation and help us attract new talent in the future.
These are only some of the notable changes that we included in our awards submission that qualified us as finalists. We look forward to celebrating at the SME National Business Awards ceremony on the evening of Friday 6th December at Wembley Stadium in London. Wish us luck!
